My microphone is not detected.

Occasionally Interview4 will tell you that it cannot detect your microphone.  Usually this means your microphone volume is set too low. Here is how you can fix the issue.

For Microsoft Windows Computers

  1. Right click on the speaker icon on the bottom right corner of your screen.  It should be next to the clock.
  2. Click 'Recording Devices'
  3. A new window 'Sounds' will appear and you will see a list of microphone devices.
  4. One of the devices in the list will have a green check on it indicating it is the default microphone.
  5. Select the default microphone by clicking on it.
  6. Click the 'properties' button.
  7. Click the levels 'Levels' tab.
  8. Here you will see a slider for the microphone volume.
  9. Move the slider all the way to the right, the level should read 100.
  10. Make sure the speaker icon to the right of the slider does not have a red circle over it.
  11. If there is a red circle, click the speaker icon to unmute the microphone.
  12. Click 'OK'.
  13. Click 'OK' again.
  14. Close your web browser and then log in and try the interview again.

For Mac Computers

  1. Open System Preferences.
  2. Click 'Sound'.
  3. Click the 'Input' tab.
  4. You will see a list of sound input devices.
  5. Click on the microphone device.
  6. Below the list of input devices you will see an 'Input Volume' slider.
  7. Move the slider all the way to the right.
  8. Close the 'Sound' window.
  9. Close your web browser and then log in and try the interview again.
